Time Zones

25 09 2008

Why do you think it is important to know about time zones in America or any other place in the world?

I think it is important to know about time zones beacause you could know the time in the country or state you live in or in any other country or state. It is also important to know about what time it is because if you want to call someone in any other state or country you would know if it is to late, to early, or just the right time to call.

Korean Tensions Grow as South Curbs Trade to North – May.24.2010

25 05 2010

Tensions rose by a high amount when the South Korean president said that his nation would cut nearly all trade with North Korea.
This article was important because many people were affected by the fact tat the trading with the two sides of Korea would end. I think that the trading between them is important because it occurs frequently.

Is Japan Seeing Internal Shift on Whaling? – May.17.2010

19 05 2010

Martin Fackler’s article on the fading passion for whaling comes to a conclusion as he clearly describes how Japan is tired of being told what to do and there is nothing to do about it, and the whaling is dying.

I think that it is good for them to stop the whaling because taking material from whale extracts are wrong, and it can endanger the lives of poor innocent whales.

URL: http://dinersjournal.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/04/21/japan-stops-beef-exports-in-possible-foot-and-mouth-outbreak/?scp=5&sq=Japan&st=cse

The Associated Press reports that Japan has recently suspended beef exports on Tuesday after three of 16 beef cattle at a farm in Miyazaki that were found to have symptoms of foot and mouth disease. The ban is said to last at least three months, according to the the agriculture minister, Hirotaka Akamatsu.
I think this article was important because it wouldn’t be right for Japan to be selling beef cattle with diseases, because it could harm someone’s health.

May.04.2010-Japan Forces Bureaucrats to Defend Spending

5 05 2010

URL: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/29/business/global/29debt.html?scp=2&sq=japan&st=cse

Japan seeks to bring its large debt under control. Lawmakers are forcing bureaucrats, or members of a Bureaucracy, to defend their budgets. The Bureaucrats are try to work out the defending of their large budgets that are not yet taken care of. I think this article is interesting because many parts of the world are suffering from large debt, and for lawmakers to know that they can count on the Bureaucracy, is very trustworthy of them. I think this article can affect others because if someone were to be in the situation of large debt that is unpaid for, this situation would largely reflect on them too.

URL: http://travel.nytimes.com/2010/04/25/travel/25hours.html?scp=2&sq=Japan&st=cse

The former imperial capital of Japan, is an ancient city that has been electrified by the new capital. Kyoto was the former imperial capital of Japan, and has now changed. 2 1/2 years ago, the city created a landmark law that helped to protect the city’s heritage districts. Kaiseki Kyoto’s cuisine, accompanied tea ceremonies about 500 years ago, and today, sampling at the cuisine is very pricey. Many things happened during the 36 hours spent in Kyoto, Japan. I think this article was interesting because someone devoted themselves into visiting Kyoto, Japan and travelling around there, to speak and spread the interesting facts that particular place in Japan contains.

Japan’s Missed Opportunity

20 04 2010

URL: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/15/opinion/15iht-edsmith.html?scp=2&sq=Japan&st=cse

Japan missed an opportunity at the nuclear summit that ended on Tuesday. The opportunity was a rare chance that Japan had had but sadly missed. The Japanese media stated the prime minister, Yukio Hatomoya’s profile, was very low. The issue of the nuclear nonproliferation was a priority for Japan, and since he had not attended that meeting, his act was foreshadowing the people of Japan. I think this article would reflect on people because if someone to be an important person, his or her acts would be well reflected on their people.

URL: http://goal.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/04/09/how-many-africans-bound-for-south-africa-remains-to-be-seen/?scp=3&sq=africa&st=cse

32 national team managers evaluate players as they train for the 2010 world cup. The 2010 world cup will be an event watched by millions of fans. The world cup is and can be seen on television, rather than visiting the actual event in South Africa.
I think this article was important because it described how the team managers were taking responsibility in their jobs and carefully evaluating the skills and practices that their players were attending to. I think that is an important task to train and practice before the actual event because it builds greater skills and more confidence to compete in front of millions of people.

March.29.2010 – Uganda: Rebels Deny Role in Congo Massacres

30 03 2010

An Uganda rebel group was accused of slaughtering hundreds of civilians in Congo. They recently have said that they played no part in the massacre. This article was very interesting because, a group of people denied that they were slaughtering hundreds of people in Congo. I think this article is important because, if something were to be true, you shouldn’t lie about it.

Bharti Secures Zain Funds as Talk Deadline Nears – 03.22.10

23 03 2010

URL : http://dealbook.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/03/22/bharti-secures-zain-funds-as-talk-deadline-nears/?scp=3&sq=africa&st=cse

Bharti Airtel, the Indian telecoms company claims that they had tied up the entire financing requirement amount of $8.3 billion for its planned purchase of Kuwaiti telecom Zain’s African assets. Bhati and Zain are exclusive meetings and talks until March 25. I think this article was important because Bharti and Zain are taking responsibility in taking care of their financial needs. This article was interesting in my opinion, because if they were not to set up meetings and talks they would not be able to take care of these funds, financially.

Africa’s Largest Wind Project Advances – 03.15.10

18 03 2010

URL: http://greeninc.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/03/16/africas-largest-wind-project-advances/?scp=2&sq=africa&st=cse
Kenya’s Lake Turkana Wind Power project was set to become Africa’s largest wind farm. They look back after surely, and securely financing through a new structure. Many had believed that this was a major step forward. Kenya’s Lake Turkana Wind Power project used a lot of wind power but with enough funding it surely was a major step forward.
I found this article interesting because of how one group of people can commit a risk that uses up so much energy and time, to succeed in what they believe in.
